Your iPod is suffering. You haven’t added new songs since the school year started. But with those sacred lazy summer days quickly approaching, you’ll finally be able to create a new summer playlist with these artists.
OneRepublic’s album Waking Up was released in November of 2009, and remained off the music radar at first. Their single “All The Right Moves” managed to light up the charts this past winter on iTunes, and still remains on the Top 100 Songs. The remaining tracks on their album like “Secrets,”“All This Time,” and “Good Life” have catchy yet sincere lyrics with beats a rhythm that makes the band so unique and popular.
Singer song-writer Ingrid Michaelson has proved herself in the music industry by cranking out four albums in the last five years, featuring countless indie rock songs with her famous ukulele and flirty, soulful lyrics. The best picks are “Everybody,” “You and I,” “The Way I Am,” and her cover of Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling In Love.”
Even though their first album was released 15 years ago, the band Better Than Ezra proves that age is only a number, even in the music business. Better Than Ezra combines their distinct genuine lyrics with a mid-tempo sound to create songs suitable for every taste. Tracks like, “Nightclubbing” and “Hell No!” give the band a rebellious rock sound with spunky lyrics. On the other hand, songs like, “A Lifetime” and “Turn Up The Bright Lights” allow the band to have a compassionate sound with lyrics that will touch listeners’ hearts
If you’re looking for a back porch rock sound with lyrics about real life, then singer song writer Matt Wertz is the guy for you. Wertz has released two albums since 2007 featuring slower acoustic songs along with upbeat rock songs. Favorite upbeat picks are: “The Way I Feel” and “Heartbreaker.” Favorite acoustic songs: “I Will Not Take My Love Away,” “Capitol City,” and “With You, Tonight.”
Now that you’re all caught up, open up iTunes so you can finally revamp that iPod.
