Sophomore Joe Novak would love to be in the shoes of a back-up dancer for Lady Gaga. Not only does Novak aspire to be a dancer for Gaga, but he literally wishes he had the dancers’ shoes.
Influenced by the combat boot trend and the fact that all of Lady Gaga’s back-up dancers wear boots, Novak prefers boots, jeans, and an oversized sweater to create his favorite look.
“My goal in life is to be a backup dancer for Lady Gaga. Dancers like to wear oversized sweaters,” Novak said.
In his free time, Novak likes to spend time looking up new shoes. Although he has never made his own pair of shoes, Novak enjoys experimenting with his shoes by adding new things to them. “Recently I ordered lots of studs and spikes to put on a new pair of shoes that are coming in,” Novak said.
Inspired by Gaga’s fashion, music, and beliefs, Novak defines his style as “cozy and urban.” Novak is also fond of the designer Nicola Formichetti because he is the genius behind all of Lady Gaga’s clothing. “She [Gaga] gives him the designs, and then he creates them. He is the core part of her fashion,” Novak said.
Novak’s favorite online store is asos.com because the website sells British fashion and dark tones of clothing. “It’s very urban, which is what I like,” Novak said.
Novak encourages people to experiment with their clothing. “Don’t be afraid to push the limits. By pushing the limits, not only will you grab attention, but you will feel much more comfortable with yourself and what you are wearing,” he said.
