What’s Valentine’s Day without dinner, frozen yogurt, and Green Turtle apparel?

The junior class is fund raising for their Junior Ring Dance by having a Sweetheart Raffle, just in time for Valentine’s Day festivities. The money raised will help lower ticket prices. The raffle was implemented by junior class leaders Amanda Brannan and Samantha Wieczynski and junior class moderators Erik Fabriziani and Elise Gower. “Mr. Fabriziani was the brains behind the idea, but [Wieczynski] and [Brannan] really helped us to prepare,” Gower said.

All members of the junior class were given tickets to sell. Individual tickets are $2, but if one buys three tickets, the cost is $5. The drawing will be held Feb. 10.

“The buzz around the school is that people are excited to win the prizes,” Gower said. The first place winner will receive a gift card for Sweet Frog frozen yogurt. Second place will receive a $20 gift card for Olive Tree, in addition to a gift card for Menchies Frozen Yogurt. The first place winner will be awarded with a $35 gift card to Green Turtle, Green Turtle apparel, and two movie tickets.

“There are a lot of expenses going on right now, so I think it would be a good Valentine’s treat,” Brannan said. All of the prizes, though, can be used whether you have a Valentine’s Day date or not.

“[The] class leaders have put a lot of work into [the raffle],” Gower said. “They have really given of themselves this year to lead and energize the junior class.”
