Sophomore Alexa Martinez serves the ball. JC won the tennis IAAM B conference championship.

The varsity tennis team won their championship on Oct. 24. This is the first time the team has won the B conference as well as the championship tournament, resulting in a championship title. If a team wins the conference they do not get recognized as the champions. The team will only be recognized as the champions if they win the championship tournament.

“We joked around that we were a little out of place because most of us didn’t have any tennis experience, but we worked harder than the other girls and won,” senior Molly Exter, a doubles player, said.

According to Exter, “It was really amazing to win the championship. We worked really hard all season, and it was a great feeling knowing our work paid off.”

“I am very proud of the girls and how hard they worked this year. They really deserved this win,” head coach George Panian said.

“Going into the match I was confident and excited,” sophomore Alexa Martinez, a singles player, said. “Then I was proud and overjoyed when the team won.”

According to Exter, “our whole team got medals for the team victory along with a plaque and a team cup.”
