Junior Luke Ensor is close to his opponents as he approaches the final turn of the men’s 100m butterfly. On Wednesday, Nov. 30, the men’s swimming team competed against Beth Tfiloh Community School, losing the meet 59-91.

Women’s Basketball – Tuesday, Thursday

In the season opener on Tuesday, Nov. 29, the women’s basketball team faced Coppin Academy at home. They sent the game into overtime but lost with a final score of 71-63. The team came back on Friday, Dec. 2 with another home game, facing St. Paul’s School for Girls. JC dominated the game with a score of 67-36. “We are taking things a lot more seriously this season, and we are really working hard to do well,” junior forward and center Nikki Hunter said.

Women’s Swimming – Wednesday

Opening the season, the women’s swimming team faced the Bryn Mawr School on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at the Bel Air Athletic Club. They lost with a final score of 132-30.

Women’s Indoor Track – Saturday

The women’s indoor track team traveled to the CCBC Essex Campus on Saturday, Dec. 3 to compete in an IAAM group meet. The team tied for third place with McDonough School out of 15 teams. There were many top 10 performances throughout the day with notable wins in the 300, 1600, 4×160, and 55 meter hurdles. Top scorers juniors Chika Chuku and Ashlee Kothenbeutel, and seniors Adria Pirozzi, Alexa Martinez, Charlotte Haggerty, and Abby Hormes led the pack in several events comprised of over 100 athletes.

Men’s Basketball – Monday, Friday

The men’s basketball team faced Chapelgate Christian Academy on Wednesday, Nov. 30 and won the game with a score of 67-60. The team traveled two hours on Friday, Dec. 2 night to play their first league game against St. Maria Goretti. JC lost 59-80.

Men’s Swimming – Wednesday

Opening up the season on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at the Bel Air Athletic Club, the men’s swimming team faced Beth Tfiloh Community School. The team lost the meet with a score of 59-91.

Men’s Indoor Track – Friday

The men’s indoor track and field team traveled to Loyola Blakefield on Friday, Dec. 2 to compete in the MIAA meet at Loyola. They did not score JV events, but first place winners in these events included juniors Evan Tridone and Robbie Baranoski, and sophomore Bryan Stancliff in the high jump, 800 meter race, and 1600 meter race respectively. Senior Steven Kutcher and junior David Pajerowski are the only two varsity athletes of the team, but they were among the top pole-vaulters of the night.

Wrestling – Saturday

At the Germantown Academy Invitational last Saturday, Dec. 3, the wrestling team finished in first place out of 13 teams. The top scorers of the invitational were sophomore Isaac Myers and freshman CJ Polesovsky, winning first place in their weight classes, while freshman Cole Jones, sophomore Tanner Tipton, and junior Luke Strappelli won second place.
