Whitney – “Light Upon the Lake”
This sun-soaked record was the soundtrack to my summer. Its bright and balmy tone is wonderfully easygoing in nature. It does not do anything revolutionary, but it evokes a beautiful feeling of happiness and nostalgia upon listening. The lyrics are ambiguous in many cases and can take a variety of applied meanings, which give it a certain personal and applicable quality.
“A Light Upon the Lake” features clean guitars, bouncy bass, and luscious horns throughout. These elements accompanied by the uniquely pitched vocals make it a memorable and highly enjoyable listen. This record is fantastic for driving around, sitting and thinking, and generally enjoying life. My enthusiasm regarding this record mainly comes from the fact that the passion and enjoyment of the band shines through in their performance, and their purpose feels genuine and authentic.
