This Is It! And that it was.
Michael Jackson’s last album certainly one not to miss. A last tribute to The King of Pop was well-served.
The new album, a soundtrack to the recently released movie “This Is It,” takes a look into Michael Jackson’s famous songs and even features a song never before released to the public. The familiar tunes are appropriately arranged in a collective timeline of his music career.
Songs and their messages seem to have a deeper meaning on this album, as they truly reflect the story behind the pop star’s life. His fame, his struggles, and his constant battle with his inner childhood are well portrayed from track to track.
Personally never being a true fan of Jackson before his death, I can genuinely say that the album can make anyone feel connected to this legendary artist.
I used to mock Jackson, but this album has made me truly appreciate the work he did in his lifetime. The innovative styles and ideas in every song can somehow remind me of modern day artists like Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, or even ,shockingly, Lady Gaga!
Jackson clearly created the road of pop for others to follow. This album creates an interesting point of view that makes the listener feel as if they have the ability to watch the style being mended and slowly mature into great works.
The two-disc album runs approximately two hours long, creating a perfect amount of Jackson jams for one day. I found the album easily played through in full as I completed my homework. Only a selected amount of the songs were car jam-out worthy, but that’s only because the album has so many different moods throughout. A part of the album is slow and the other is high-paced, but when listened in full, it moves perfectly.
The last song, “Planet Earth,” is a poem read by Michael Jackson himself. An eerie feeling is stirred in the listener by the last words, but it makes a perfect ending to a perfect album.
This man is a legend, and his goodbye tribute is a legendary album.
