The amazing story of “Beauty and the Beast” was brought to life by the JC Theatre Department. This spectacular musical was by far one of the best performances in my time at JC.
At first I had my doubts about this production. It is really hard to try to recreate the beloved Beast and the lively household objects.
But the actors did it. Not only were the costumes fabulous, but the acting, singing, and humor were absolutely fantastic.
It brought me back to my childhood. “Beauty and the Beast” is one of my all time favorite Disney movies, and even though I forgot most of the story line, it all came back after watching the performance.
One of my favorite parts of the performance was, “Be my Guest.” Thank you, Theatre Department. You made the song even better than the movie. The singing was better, the dancing was better, the accents and acting was better. I looked forward to that one performance every time I went to see the musical.
I went to the show Friday night, Saturday night, and Sunday afternoon, and every time I went, I was amazed again and again at the acting and singing in the performance. It was worth the money to see it multiple times.
I need to mention Kelsey Lake’s (Belle) amazing vocals, which gave me chills every time she sang. Tyler Fritze (Beast) combined great acting and singing to make me laugh and cry. Ryan Selvy (Lumiere) and Conor Devoe (Cogsworth) put on hilarious accents which added comic relief to the play.
If you didn’t see it, you really missed out on a fantastic display of amateur theatre. If you saw it, however, be our guest and continue to rave about it.
