Even though Christmas is over, we know you’re still in the holiday spirit. Luckily, there are tons of great holiday movies to choose from; the question is what to watch first. Well, without further ado, ”The Patriot” will count down the top five holiday films for you. So grab your remotes, get ready, and read on.
Number 5: “A Christmas Carol”
This classic movie is in the top five for obvious reasons. It is a family tradition that I watch this movie every Christmas because it would not be Christmas without the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future. It is heartwarming and really demonstrates the true meaning of the Christmas season. If you do not agree, then “Bah humbug!”
Number 4: “Home Alone”
“KEVIN!” What kind of Christmas would it be if you did not hear that phrase at least once coming from your television set? “Home Alone” is one of my all time favorite Christmas movies because I love watching the little shenanigans that go on in the McCallister residence while Kevin (Macaulay Culkin) is home alone. As burglars attempt to break in, Kevin takes it upon himself to defend his house.
Number 3: “Elf”
What could be better than an overgrown elf named Buddy (Will Ferrell) traveling to New York in order to get his long lost father off the naughty list? One problem: no one in New York believes in Santa Claus anymore, and when Buddy tries to tell his father that he is from the North Pole and Santa sent him, his father only believes that he is a mental patient. But soon, Buddy proves to everyone that Santa is real, and he sheds light on the true meaning of Christmas: being with family.
Number 2: “Christmas Vacation”
The brightest house on the block, grumpy neighbors, hillbilly uncles, a nearly deaf grandmother, and a family of misfits come together to celebrate Christmas. As Clark Griswald (Chevy Chase) tries to make this the best Christmas ever, he soon is severely disappointed with how things begin to turn out. However, no one could ever imagine how out of hand events would get, from a burned Christmas tree to kidnapping Griswald’s boss.
Number 1: “A Christmas Story”
“You’ll shoot your eye out!” Every year, this movie comes on all day on Christmas, so if you’ve never seen this movie, catch it on TBS. If you don’t enjoy a nine year old boy being shoved down a slide by Santa Claus, being triple dog dared to stick his tongue to a telephone pole, and “shooting his eye out” with a Red Ryder carbine-action 200-shot range model BB rifle with a compass in the stock, then obviously, you don’t enjoy Christmas.
