”First point of attack: right ear. Two: throat, to muffle his scream. Three: cracked ribs. Four: sweep under right knee. In summary: neutralized. Chance of recovery: small”
The outcome of this plan of attack was that it was Holmes’ plan to kill a guard, and it was a success. It was a little vulgar and intense, but that’s how I like my action movies.
I am going to be honest. I did not expect much from this movie. To me, it seemed kind of lame to make a “Sherlock Holmes” movie now, especially in the 21st century.
However, I was greatly surprised by the movie, which had a variety of action scenes and a decent plot.
Holmes (Robert Downey Jr.) and his stalwart Dr. Watson (Jude Law) have just caught a serial killer/“sorcerer” (Lord Blackwood, played by Mark Strong) at the start of the movie.
Although they closed the case successfully, all does not remain well because Lord Blackwood mysteriously returns from the grave.
The rest of the movie shows Holmes battling Blackwood and his many accomplices, trying to disprove “black magic,” and all the while having a raunchy relationship with criminal Irene Adler (Rachel McAdams).
Downey played an amazing Sherlock Holmes. Downey was witty, charming, and at times almost repulsive. In addition, it did help that throughout the whole movie he had a nice set of abs.
Law did a great job portraying the know-it-all Dr. Watson.
As for McAdams, there is nothing I can say but flawless acting. She and Downey were able to merge raunchy with surprisingly tasteful in their scenes together.
This movie pleasantly surprised me and I suggest going to see it. So follow these steps carefully:
Grab cash. Lock door, so robbers don’t rob your house. Get into your car. Drive to the movies. Buy ticket for “Sherlock Holmes.” Never regret a thing.
