Four guys travel across the country in a purple bus named Penelope. Such a scenario surely must spell disaster.
Surprisingly, this is not the case on MTV’s “The Buried Life,” which just finished up its first season. The show follows the journey of four Canadian guys in their twenties—Ben Nemtin, Dave Lingwood, Duncan Penn, and Jonnie Penn—as they seek to check items off of their bucket lists.
I was originally skeptical about the show. The idea has been done before, yet, “The Buried Life” gives it a fresh take.
Normally, people do not get around to thinking about their bucket list until they are old or terminally ill.
Not only are the guys young, but also they focus on giving back. For every item that they check off of their list, they help a total stranger complete something on his list.
For example, in one episode, the guys help an adopted young man meet his biological father. In heart-warming moments such as these, it is obvious that this show is definitely a change from the normal MTV show.
Nonetheless, the guys share many hilarious moments—such as the antics that are involved in trying to sneak into the Playboy Mansion or attempting to ask out the girl of their dreams (the girl, by the way, is Megan Fox).
The guys are not always successful, but the journey is always entertaining.
Ultimately, the show will make any viewer want to get out and live their life, as it asks, “What do you want to do before you die?”
