Don’t leave your babies unattended.
“Paranormal Activity 2” came into theatres on Friday, Oct. 22 and was truly terrifying. In our opinion, it was scarier than the first “Paranormal Activity,” but that is probably due to the budget being a lot larger because of the success of the first “Paranormal Activity.”
The movie centers around a mother named Kristi (Sprague Grayden) and her husband Daniel (Brian Bowland). The couple has a young baby boy named Hunter and a teenage girl named Ali (Molly Ephraim.) The family also has housemaid, Martine, who tries repeatedly to rid the house of bad spirits.
We should mention here that Kristi happens to be Katie Featherstone’s sister, so both “Paranormal Activity” and “Paranormal Activity 2” are related. Actually “Paranormal Activity 2” occurs before and during the first haunting from “Paranormal Activity,” but the activities take place in a different household.
Early in the movie, the family comes home one day and their house is trashed and appears to be broken into. So, Daniel decides to install security cameras throughout the house to make them feel safe.
But this is paranormal activity we are talking about here, so not even their big German Shepherd can keep this house safe.
We screamed out loud and jumped on several occasions throughout the movie. It ultimately freaked us out beyond belief. The sounds were more frightening than the actual graphics. We see different views from each security camera at night, watching intently to see something paranormal. We didn’t exactly anticipate the obnoxiously loud noises that knocked us off our chairs.
We were actually afraid to eat the popcorn for fear of choking on it at the next night scene. We had to get our fill during the day scenes when we saw the family engaging in mundane family activities.
If you aren’t one for horror movies or didn’t like the first “Paranormal Activity,” then you probably won’t like this one either, although it is more freaky than horror. We thoroughly enjoyed being scared out of our seats, and if you enjoyed the first “Paranormal Activity,” then you will most likely like this one as well.
