The Housewives know how to celebrate holidays in style, and this Halloween was no exception. From wearing over the top costumes to throwing wild neighborhood parties, everyone wanted to be the center of attention.
Everyone except for Beth, that is. Paul Young’s wife wants anything but to be the center of her husband’s attention. After she refuses to sleep with him yet again, he finally turns to a marriage counselor, who suggests that they try dating.
There’s something I want to say to Paul: dude, she doesn’t want to be with you! You two obviously have different ideas of marriage, and you’re not meant to be together.
It turns out that Paul has similar thoughts. He tells Beth that he wants her out of the house by the end of the week.
Of course, a character never leaves that easily, and after the two kiss passionately, viewers are left wondering if Paul still wants her gone.
My guess? She’ll either leave after finding out more about Paul’s background, or she’ll turn up dead by the end of the season.
In other news about marriage crises, the Delfinos are (still) struggling financially. Susan thinks that everything’s going to be okay after she tells Mike about her sketchy side job, but then she gets fired from her teaching job after a “parent” (Paul Young in disguise) tattles on her.
The next thing we know, Mike’s making a phone call—he’s going to take that job in Alaska. I thought I’d be upset if my favorite husband ever left Wisteria Lane, but since he hasn’t been around that much this season anyway, I don’t think I’ll miss him much.
The Scavos are having issues as well, once again over the fate of Tom’s mother Allison. Though I find it terribly sad that they’re planning to send her to a nursing home, I’m glad that Marc Cherry and his scriptwriters are done with her.
Besides, I hate when Tom and Lynette argue, and so I was relieved to see that Tom finally realized that he could no longer care for his mother. Unfortunately, Allison had to slap Lynette across the face before Tom saw that his mother was going crazy.
The couple of the moment, Bree and Keith, has a brief falling out after Bree finds out that Keith was sent to the Department of Corrections after assaulting someone who hit on his previous girlfriend. Um, Bree, that’s a sign that you should get out of that relationship. Too bad she stays with him anyway.
He’s not even that good looking, especially with all those tattoos. And he’s not the brightest crayon in the box either. Who doesn’t know who Marilyn Monroe was?
The only husband on the lane who didn’t have much of a role in this episode was Carlos. Instead, the Solis plotline focused on Gaby’s love for Grace and Juanita’s obvious jealousy.
I felt really terrible for Juanita, although I couldn’t help but laugh when she wore a frumpy dog costume and stood next to Grace, who was dressed as a princess. I kind of lost my pity for her when she “accidentally” cut off Grace’s hair. Someone’s taking after her (adoptive) mother’s vengeful ways.
The last minute of the episode explains that all the people on Wisteria Lane are afraid, but not because it’s Halloween. Tom’s afraid that his mom won’t forgive him. Gaby’s worried that Juanita will discover the truth. Beth’s worried about being sent away. Susan’s afraid that MJ will find out about her side job and that she’ll have to face everything alone.
I feel bad for Gaby’s family and maybe Tom, but everyone else kind of deserves what they have coming for them.
Overall, the episode kept me hooked. I’m still bored with Paul, but I think that something exciting with him will be happening soon.
