Reward Challenge
The reward challenge entitled the men going against the women. However, one man was not man enough to step up to the challenge. Chase decided to sit out, and he had to choose a team to support. If that team had won, he would be able to go on the reward with them. If the team he chose lost, he would have to go back to camp with them.
The challenge consisted of the whole team running through straw, twigs and a brick wall in order to get keys and win a barbecue. The men won and the women lost.
Hilary: Marty, of course, had to add his own bit, saying that watching Chase with Jane was like watching “Dumb and Dumber.” Actually, I think watching your life on “Survivor” is like watching “Dumb and Dumber,” Marty. Who gave away their immunity idol and will probably be voted out? That’s what I thought.
Elizabeth: There was no doubt that the men would be able to plow through sticks and bricks faster than the women. The reward challenge wasn’t even fair, and the fact that Chase chose the women was not the brightest idea, but maybe he did it to show them that they could trust him.
Men’s Reward
For reward, the men got to go zip lining through the jungle, and they also got a nice feast to satisfy their starved and hungry bodies.
Elizabeth: I really think that some of the women deserved that reward more than some of the men on that tribe did. The men obviously didn’t think so because they were given the chance to change spaces with one of the women to go on the reward instead of them, but none of them did it.
Women at Camp
At camp, the women decided that they should blindside Marty but told everyone else that they were voting out NaOnka.
Hilary: Back at camp everyone finally started taking my advice and talking about voting out Marty, the idiot. Thank you! Now let’s make sure that he actually goes home. Don’t get cynical, just vote out the babbling idiot.
Elizabeth: It took the tribe long enough to figure out the obvious candidate to vote off the island.
Challenge
For immunity, Jeff read and held up a series of symbols. The contestants had to relay the symbols back to Jeff using a cube. This challenge required a strong memory. Brenda proved herself to be worthy, and she was rewarded with immunity.
Tribal Council
At tribal council, NaOnka served a nice portion of her homemade craziness and used some colorful words that the producers nicely bleeped out. She went off about how much she hates Marty and his hair. Her speech left Marty cackling and Jeff speechless, wondering how she can go off like that and still be in the game.
As the votes were being read, Marty sat quite comfortably on the bench smiling away as the votes showed up as Jane, until the Jane votes became tied with Marty votes. Then the smile slowly faded into a face of confusion as the Marty votes become more frequent until the words come out of Jeff’s mouth. “Marty, the tribe has spoken.”
Hilary: YES! That’s all I have to say.
Elizabeth: I don’t think I have ever been more happy and excited to hear those words. The tribe is finally making decisions based on what is best for them individually, and voting out a threat like Marty was definitely a good start.
