“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1” was released on Nov. 19th at 12:00 a.m, but it isn’t over yet. “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” will be released July 15, 2011.
Part one of the Deathly Hallows is in plain old-fashioned 2-D. The imaginative effects bring you into the movie, rather than it just being an amusement park thrill ride.
Part two, the finale, however, will be released in 3-D.
David Yates has directed every Harry Potter movie beginning with the fifth, and just like the previous movies, Yates did a marvelous job with “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows: Part 1.”
This movie was definitely my favorite of the seven Harry Potter movies. It is part one of the last and most depressing movie in the series. Although the plot was serious and the setting was quite gloomy and depressing, Yates does a great job with incorporating comic relief into the movie as well. The graphics and magical effects of the movie were very entertaining and enjoyable to watch.
Harry, Ron, and Hermione are still played by Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson. Although they have obviously and unavoidably grown up, they are still the perfect and irreplaceable young warlocks and best friends.
Their growing up also allows the viewers to feel like we have grown up with them, both as characters and people.
In “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1,” Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) and his Death Eaters have made the Ministry of Magic their home, and their first job is to finish off Harry, who is off on an adventure with Ron and Hermione. They are trying to find and destroy every last Horcrux, a gem that contains the pieces of Voldemort’s broken soul.
Since part one was only half of the book, it didn’t really end. The end of the movie just leaves the viewer hanging on. It was actually disappointing, but it leaves the viewer with the desire and excitement to see the second part, as well as frustration with the fact that we have to wait another seven months to see the end.
