Well, as we were promised, this week is a double elimination on “Survivor: Nicaragua.” Or, double desertion. Not one, but two people walk out of the game this week.
Everyone around camp is gloomy because of the cold and rainy weather, but Fabio and Holly are trying to lighten the mood. Fabio tells the tribe “You just have to find your mental happy place,” if such a thing exists. Holly tells them that this experience will only make them stronger.
Benry is irritated because NaOnka and Kelly are complaining about the rain.
E: Well, I mean, you are in a rainforest. Rain is to be expected.
H: What are you— the wicked witch of the west? Are you going to melt when water touches you? Wait, we are talking about NaOnka.
This whole episode revolves around the fact that Kelly S. and NaOnka want to quit. They obviously told the producers beforehand but they waited until the reward challenge to tell Jeff. Their teammates obviously know about their desire to quit as well because that’s what everyone is talking about around camp. NaOnka says to Chase, “My heart’s not in the game like it should be. I’m gonna give you the key to the game. There’s the idol.” And she gives Chase her hidden immunity idol.
H: This is the very first nice gesture I have ever seen NaOnka do. Is this real life?
E: It’s sort of humorous how the only time we see NaOnka being nice is when she’s down and about to go out.
Sash really wants NaOnka and Kelly to stay because he doesn’t have a strong alliance with any of the other remaining contestants.
H: Too bad. So sad. I don’t like Sash, so he can leave now.
E: Sash is pretty much done without NaOnka and Kelly. I predict that he’ll be gone next week.
Reward Challenge
For the reward challenge, members of two teams, yellow and blue, are tied together. Dan sits out this challenge but chooses to back the blue team. They first need to untie an eight ft. stuffed dummy, Gulliver, from a table, and then they need to carry him through a series of obstacles without dropping him.
After a close battle, the blue team, including NaOnka, wins reward. For reward, they get to go to the Survivor Cinema and see the premier of “Gulliver’s Travels.” Popcorn, nachos, candy, and hot dogs are all included.
E: Dan gets all of the reward but does none of the work. We rarely see him doing anything around camp either. And has he really even ticked anyone off during the game? He could be a threat, but then again, he won’t win any immunity challenges, so they might just be okay.
Then for the moment of truth.
NaOnka tells Jeff that she’s ready to go, and then Kelly S. speaks up that she is ready to quit also. Jeff is shocked but tells them to sleep on it and if they are still ready to leave at tribal council tomorrow they may.
H: I used to like Kelly. Key word: used to. But now she will forever be grouped with NaOnka the quitter and self-centered jerk. Kelly, you did this to yourself.
E: Kelly (not that she did much anyway)—stooping down to NaOnka’s level and quitting? That’s your biggest move of the game.
Back to the reward…
Jeff tells the members of the blue team that if any of them is willing to give up their reward, the rest of the tribe will get a new tarp and rice. Everyone looks at NaOnka to do it since she will be eating when she quits the game, but she refuses. So, instead, Holly gives up her reward so the rest of the tribe can have tarp and rice. Enjoy your reward, NaOnka. Don’t worry about anyone else, because I’m sure they will not miss you.
E: NaOnka is a selfish brat.
H: the best part of this whole scene is when NaOnka says, “Thanks, Mom,” to Holly, who almost slapped her.
Back at camp
Holly gives Kelly some motherly advice and tells her to suck it up and play the game, or she will always be remembered as the girl who quit “Survivor: Nicaragua.”
Apparently this talk means absolutely nothing to Kelly. At Tribal Council, NaOnka goes on and on about how great the reward challenge was and how the movie was great and how she knows that she could’ve won this game because of her “attitude” and “spunk.”
H: What attitude and spunk is she talking about? Seriously NaOnka needs a reality check.
E: If you were so sure you could win this game, why did you quit? This obviously means you definitely cannot win this game. The oldest woman on the tribe outlasted you, Spunky. The real survivors are the ones who survived living on an island with you for 28 days.
But one million dollars just doesn’t cut it for NaOnka, who decides to quit.
Kelly follows her, saying, “I’m going to quit.” And they both walk out of the game.
Unfortunately, we’re not done with them yet, as they will both be on the jury. Alina (already on the jury) is crying as NaOnka and Kelly leave. All of the members of the jury are clearly furious with both women because all three jury members, Marty, Brenda, and Alina wish they were still in the game, and here NaOnka and Kelly have just given up.
After all of this, NaOnka adds her two cents. “I feel like I owe no one a possibility whatsoever. I did it all on my own, and it was a hell of a competition for me.”
E: I must say, I will miss NaOnka’s hilarious, yet completely absurd and senseless comments.
