Episode 10 – Down the block there’s a riot
I should have known that Sunday’s episode was going to be a letdown when I saw on the ABC “Desperate Housewives” homepage that it was rated PG.
Since when has this show become so child friendly?
Still, I went into the show with the hope that this episode would be as intense as the preview looked.
It wasn’t.
What I’d like to know is if tonight was supposed to be the big climactic episode of the season or if there will be more drama and interesting scandal later.
After tonight, what else could possibly happen on the lane?
Answer? Not much. Gaby is terribly depressed after Grace leaves. Hey, at least she has Juanita and—oh yeah!—another (biological) daughter. What ever happened to Celia anyway?
Meanwhile, Susan confronts Tom about his history with Renee. Yawn. Too bad Susan can’t just stick to her own business. I thought she figured that out last week when she found Tom and Lynette sharing some quality time together?
And then because Susan just can’t keep her trap shut, she gets into a fight with Renee at the protest. And what do you know, she ends up being trampled by a crowd. She kind of deserved that one.
On the plus side, maybe she’s so injured that Mike will have to come home to take care of MJ. Yay Mike! I miss him.
Elsewhere in the neighborhood, Keith’s father makes a move on Bree (surprise, surprise). Grossest moment of the episode, by far. Although, I guess it shouldn’t be, since Keith’s father is pretty much the same age as Bree.
The “big” moment in the episode was the protest that turned into a complete riot. The scene was so far-fetched.
I find it really hard to believe that all of those people live on one street, and I think that the part where a bunch of people start smashing apart the halfway house with baseball bats was a bit extreme. But who knows.
I thought the episode was pretty much over, but of course they have to leave us with a cliffhanger.
Paul Young gets shot. But is he dead? The obvious answer is yes, but it just doesn’t make sense. I’d like to hope he’s out of the picture for good, but what would that mean for the rest of the season? Is there a bigger plot out there somewhere, maybe involving the shooter?
And who was the shooter? Bree had a gun earlier in the episode—she was the one, after all, who started the riot by shooting her little pistol.
I’m betting my marbles that it was poor little Lee, who was probably distraught that Paul cheated him and the neighborhood. Then again, is Lee even capable of doing such a thing?
According to the Housewives section on abc.com, “catfights, seduction, and murder are all part of the average day.” But all of that is just getting old.
After last season’s epic Susan-Katherine cat fight, nothing seems to compare. Every storyline this season is just so dull. Either I’m growing more mature, or this show is just going downhill.
Hopefully it picks back up before the season is over though. I’m not quite ready to give up this blog I love so dearly (also, if I did give it up, I’m pretty sure my former co-writer would kill me).
