There’s nothing to do in Harford County apart from the occasional miniature golf game or Mexican meal. Right?
Contrary to popular belief, Bel Air and its neighboring towns aren’t trapped inside a force field. There are yellow brick roads outside of Harco.
Baltimore is approximately 30 minutes away and D.C is about an hour away. Some students drive a long way to get to school every morning, so there should be no complaints about there being nothing to do in Harford County. Baltimore and D.C. are two great cities that are popular especially for their music scenes.
Going to concerts is a great way to have fun and get closer to a favorite band. Rams Head Live located near the Inner Harbor in Baltimore and the 9:30 Club located in D.C are two great music venues of the Mid-Atlantic. Most shows for these venues are open to all ages, which makes going to concerts even easier.
In the next couple of months, great bands are coming this way so be prepared. Rams Head Live will showcase Matt Nathanson, a great acoustic musician, on Jan. 29. Third Eye Blind will perform on Feb. 6 and, just two months later, The Ting Tings will be performing there on April 14. The range of music presented by Rams Head is unbelievable as the venue truly covers every music genre.
The 9:30 Club, which is a little more of a trip than Rams Head, is also featuring music greats such as Young the Giant, which is sadly already sold out, of Montreal on April 3, Nada Surf on April 10, and The Ting Tings on April 12.
While Rams Head and 9:30 Club are two great venues, neither of them can come close to the likings of Merriweather Post Pavilion. This venue located in Columbia, Md., has hosted some of the music industry’s greatest legends such as Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and the Grateful Dead. The amphitheater layout creates a solid feel for big productions.
Because it’s an outdoor theater, Merriweather hosts concerts only during the warm months. The only scheduled concert is for Foster the People with The Kooks on June 6. During the summer months, Merriweather is packed with festivals such as the ever-popular Virgin Mobil Free Fest.
While Harford County may seem boring at times, it only takes about 30 minutes to get to somewhere fun. So just purchase some tickets, hop in a car, and go have some fun.
