The Theater Department’s spring musical, “Cinderella,” is premiering the first weekend in March. Matinees and previews will be held and the evening premiere will be Friday, Mar. 2. There will be two performances Saturday, Mar. 3 and one on Sunday, Mar. 4.
The play is based off of “Cinderella Enchanted,” a version created by Rogers and Hammerstein in the 1950s. The songs are the same as “Cinderella Enchanted,” but with a little more humor. Some differences in this variation include the fairy godmother having a somewhat brash attitude.
“I am really excited because the first time ever we are having a Princess Tea and all the little girls are going to be dressed as Cinderella. It will be something fun to see,” senior Dana Grimmel said.
Tickets went on sale Feb. 13 for $15 in the school store. Tickets are sold on a first come, first serve basis.
In addition to the shows, the Theater Department will be trying adding a new event this year. In between the two Saturday performances there will be a Princess Tea. During this Princess Tea, children will have the opportunity to meet the cast, get autographs, and have tea with their favorite characters from the show. Tickets to attend the tea in addition to the show will be $20.
