It’s time to start refreshing wardrobes for spring. The warmer weather calls for a wider variety of colors and prints. Not only is junior Kyleigh Daiker on top of the trends but she is prepared to revamp her wardrobe and parade her own style.
Daiker describes her style as “retro or vintage” and likes to add character to all of her fashion choices. “I like to mix it [my style] with modern influences,” Daiker said.
Daiker’s style is inspired by the people around her, from her best friends to strangers. “I’m inspired by people I see on the streets and how they dress. I make it my own,” Daiker said. Daiker is also interested in the style choices of stars like actress Rachel McAdams and model Twiggy because of their “retro/vintage style.”
Daiker is self-aware of her body type and believes that others should be as well. In her opinion, stylish people dress to fit their body so that they look good regardless if their body type is scrawny or curvy. “I think of how I can make myself look good, how I can flatter me.” Daiker said. “I don’t like when people don’t dress to their body type.”
Daiker, who has been dancing since she was a child, has a comfortable style that is also heavily influenced by her dance background. “I like the things that are flowy and pastel colored,” Daiker said, “I think that in the winter I like sweaters and leggings.” Her favorite accessories are shoes, scarves, or “anything very unique that can be mixed with a lot of very different things.”
Colors and versatility are a big part of her wardrobe, making her looking forward to spring and the colorful fashion opportunities this season provides. “I really want to get in more color [to my wardrobe],” Daiker said. She also follows magazines to research upcoming trends and she’s discovered that “a lot of fashion magazines say color and black.”
She’s looking forward to all the stripes and polka-dots that she can get her hands on to this spring. Daiker likes to read Vogue, Seventeen Magazine, and Cosmopolitan, which features many “good fashion photos.”
As the weather warms and the flowers bloom, Daiker will be dressing to fit her body with prints, vintage pieces, and colors. Follow suit and be sure to have a closet as striking and colorful as the blossoms on the trees.
