Local train gardens in Harford County provide a variety of different events for the entire family

As the Christmas season continues, a variety of different events are available to help get you into the spirit of the holidays. Attractions that are often seen are the different train gardens found around Harford County and Pennsylvania.

One local train garden is Christopher’s Train Garden at Broom’s Bloom Dairy. This train exhibit opened the day after Thanksgiving and runs through the first of January.

The train garden is held in memory of Christopher Cooper, a young boy who had a huge love of Christmas and trains.

The exhibit is open from noon until 8pm and has free admission; however, donations are appreciated.

The garden details multiple different locations around Harford County, from JC’s stadium, Main Street Bel Air and Harford Mall. With such good detailing and for such a good cause, Christopher’s Train Garden at Broom’s Bloom is a must-see.

After visiting that train garden, there are also a variety of food, ice cream, and groceries available.

Whether you are in the mood for a warm cup of Maryland or cream of crab soup, a bowl of mac n’ cheese or an ice cream made with specific Christmas flavors, Broom’s Bloom has a multitude of options for refreshment.

Another train garden that is done well is the Brandywine River Museum Train Garden in Chadds Ford, PA. Students may have visited the museum in the past as a part of their English curriculum, but few have visited during the Christmas holiday.

The garden opened on November 29 and runs through January.

According to Brandywine River Museum’s official website, the trains run on nearly 2,000 feet of track and have more than 1,000 pieces of equipment locomotives, passenger and freight trains, farms, carnival, and even Santa and his reindeer. The garden is extremely well done and elaborately put together, making it entertaining for the entire family.

After viewing the garden, visitors can walk around the museum and see a variety of artwork, from painters such as Jamie and Andrew Wyeth.

There is also a cafe available for lunch or a snack, offering sandwiches, homemade soups and salads.
