Saladworks: Does it live up to the hype?
March 13, 2020
Saladworks is a chain restaurant that specializes in serving salads. Saladworks has multiple locations but has recently opened a new location in Bel Air. Many students have been raving about the restaurant, and I have heard only good things about the place. I wanted to try the place for myself to see if it lived up to the high compliments people have been giving it.
I entered the restaurant and was pleased to see a nice and healthy aesthetic as soon as I opened the door. When I entered the line to choose a salad, the menu was above and easy to find and read. They offer a wide variety of not only salads, but soups, sandwiches, paninis, and grain bowls. However, it is still easy to navigate through the menu and locate specific items.
I decided to order their specialty: a salad. They offer signature salads such as a Chicken Caesar or a Farmhouse. Any of these signature salads can be altered to your exact liking. Each salad also has the ability to be turned into a wrap, which is a great option for anyone who is not a fan of plain salads. Every salad also comes with a choice of a white or wheat roll.
I selected the “Create Your Own” salad option and was very pleased at what I saw. I was offered a large selection of different lettuces, toppings, and dressings to choose from. With the salad option I chose, I was offered up to three lettuces and five salad toppings. I chose a spring lettuce salad with feta cheese, dried cranberries, and sunflower seeds, topped with a raspberry vinaigrette.
They tossed the salad right in front of me, and it was then ready to eat. At the checkout area, I was greeted by a friendly cashier, and then I received my total: $13.22 for the “Build Your Own” salad and a fountain drink. I found this to be a little pricey, and this was one of the downsides of the experience. However, I still enjoyed the amazing flavors of the dressing and toppings, the freshness and crispness of the lettuce and the soft, warm roll. The salad portions are also very large, so I was able to leave filled from just one salad.
Overall, my experience with Saladworks was a good one. The only downside to the experience was the high price, but the food was amazing. This was one of the best salads I have tasted, and I was left full and satisfied.
