Guidance counselor and her husband open local Harford County snowball stand

Friendship comes in the form of many things: mentors, siblings, and friends, but have you ever seen it come in the form of a snowball?

One of our own counselors Mrs. Molly Roseland and her husband opened their own snowball stand called Friendship Snowballs in Abingdon. The name is true to their business as the business is friendship owned. Mrs. Roseland and her husband opened the stand in June and have found lots of success since then.
Launching a new business takes time, but this one took off right away.
Starting the business was harder than they had thought. There were permits that they needed to get, and they needed to have inspections done, along with being approved by the ADA.
Mrs. Roseland was pregnant for most of the summer. This made working at the snowball stand more challenging. It was hot, and there were long days on her feet for hours. After all the work of starting it up, they needed to get employees, so they hired some family and friends from Patterson Mill and John Carroll.
Grace Welzenbach is the only current Patriot who works there. She said that the snowball stand is very friendly and welcoming. There is country music that is played, and there are corn hole boards that are set up for people to play.
Picnic table are provided to sit on, and both the Roselands are there to help out with the snowballs and to have fun with everyone.
As the summer went on, they backed away and let others handle the business, especially because of Mrs. Roseland’s having her baby.
They initially started the snowball business for Mrs. Roseland, so she could have something to do. Mr. Roseland coaches and runs a baseball camp at Patterson Mill. When COVID-19 hit, he knew he wouldn’t have anything to do, so they came up with the idea of having the snowball stand.
The snowball stand just finished its last weekend for the summer, but they will be opening back up again for business in April.
