If you’ve ever wanted a good scary movie to watch for Halloween to get in the spirit of the season, look no further than the horror movie — simply titled, –‘Halloween.’
Halloween is a slasher film that was released into theaters on October 25, 1978, six days before Halloween.
Directed by John Carpenter and co-written by Debra Hill, the film is about a young boy named Michael Myers who had murdered his older sister on a Halloween night when he was only six-years old, 15 years before the events of the film.
Now he has escaped from a mental asylum and has traveled to the fictional town of Haddonfield, Illinois in order to stalk a babysitter and her friends.
The film stars three notable actors, including Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode, the main protagonist throughout the Halloween franchise. This was actually Curtis’ first ever role in any sort of movie on the big screen.
Donald Pleasance plays Michael Myers’ psychiatrist Dr. Sam Loomis. Nick Castle stars as Michael Myers.
When I first watched this movie when I was only eight years old. I said I could handle it, and that I wouldn’t be scared after. Things quickly changed after the movie ended as the movie was very scary to eight-year-old me. Years later, I can safely say this is one of the best horror movies I have ever watched.
It does not miss a beat throughout the film and remains consistently scary. You’ll never know when Myers is about to strike, and the movie has many twists and turns throughout it.
The acting in the movie is very well done. While it may seem like any generic horror movie’s acting, it is not. The acting in Halloween is very different from any movie you will ever watch. It leaves you intrigued throughout the whole movie. The movie’s music can’t go without mention, either. Director John Carpenter wrote the theme for the movie himself, and when it plays out in the beginning, it fits very well with the rest of the movie. It leaves you intrigued as to what will happen next.
Halloween has one of the most iconic horror movie scores of all time.
This movie can be viewed on many different TV channels, mainly around Halloween when they begin to air horror movies more. It can also be purchased and watched on YouTube.
Want an easy scare this Halloween season? Sit down and put on this movie. It’ll leave you frightened.
