Dunkin’ releases new latte for holiday season

As the holiday season continues, we all enjoy the eggnog, hot chocolate and chilled cider.

Last month Dunkin’ released their new holiday menu. While having all of their classics like Pumpkin Spice Latte, Peppermint Mocha and Gingerbread Iced Coffee, a new addition was added this year: Chai Oat-Milk Latte.
Dunkin’s Chai Oat Milk Latte is made with a sweetened chai tea blend featuring spices like cinnamon, cardamom, and nutmeg.
With plant-based and healthy food choices becoming more popular, this has had consumers excited.
When going to the local Dunkin’ Donuts and ordering this latte, I found the location itself to be very crowded and busy.
The drink itself can come hot or cold, but since we’re going into full winter cozy mode, hot seemed like the best option. The drink came in the normal holiday-themed Dunkin’ cup.
The scent was strong and almost overpowering with the different blend of spices — much like other holiday-themed chai offerings.
This strong scent reminded me more of a Bath and Body Works body wash rather than a drink.
Aside from the scent, each sip of the Chai Oat-Milk Latte was smooth and rich without being too heavy. The oat milk foamed really well in the drink; many milk substitutes such as almond milk don’t get as foamy. Oat milk is a very sweet milk, much sweeter in comparison to almond milk.
However, the drink wasn’t sweet at all. You could clearly taste the spices and the sweetness that was in the beverage in comparison to a French vanilla coffee creamer, but it didn’t overshadow the drink like generic creamers do to coffee.
The drink was good. The array of flavors are interesting, but as you keep drinking it gets better.
Despite this, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who isn’t a usual chai drinker. However, it is definitely something new to try.
