It’s the holiday season, which means it’s the most wonderful time of the year. It also means it’s time to sip on some hot chocolate.

There’s nothing like a chilly winter night with a warm cup of hot chocolate in your hand to enjoy the holiday spirit. Hot chocolate has been a staple holiday drink that many enjoy, but this holiday season I challenge you to spice up your normal hot chocolate experience.
The way to make your hot chocolate more fun and interactive is by putting together a hot chocolate bar.
This is a perfect and simple way to DIY your ideal winter night.
First, you’ll need some form of cups for each person. These can be disposable cups or washable mugs. I would personally include some festive holiday mugs to add to the winter theme.
Then include some toppings for guests to add on top of their hot chocolate. Some examples of toppings include marshmallows, toffee bits, coarse sea salt, mini chocolate chips, crushed peppermints, candy canes, soft peppermint sticks, whoppers, Lindt truffles, Pirouette cookies, whipped cream, dark chocolate syrup, and caramel sauce. Include scoopers or spoons in each topping cup so that guests can add toppings without having to use their hands.
Most importantly, every hot chocolate bar needs hot chocolate. An easy way to provide fast hot chocolate is to have packets of the powder available so that guests can heat up milk or water and just mix in the powder. I personally enjoy the brand Swiss Miss because they have a variety of options that will enhance the of your drink. It’s fast, efficient, and tasty.
The best part about a hot chocolate bar is that it’s completely customizable to fit individual needs. You can easily throw some toppings in cups on a table or take time to decorate your table and add signs to fit your aesthetic.
The holidays are all about spreading the joy and cheer that we all long for all year. Small at-home activities like this are the perfect way to spread that positivity and engage in holiday festivities.
Another aspect of the holidays is being with the people we love most. A hot chocolate bar is a great addition to a holiday party or even just a small family gathering.
