With a surge of new TV shows which were released during the COVID-19 pandemic, along with the classic costumes such as the angel and devil combo, there is no scarcity of ideas.

One of the most successful TV shows on Netflix in the past year and a half is that of “Outer Banks.”
With the show’s classic beach outfits and hairstyles, there is no shortage of a selection for both guys and girls. You could dress up as characters Sarah Cameron or John B for a beachy take on this spooky holiday.
Another show released by Netflix at the start of the pandemic is that of the TV show, “Tiger King.” The show is a documentary based on the life of zookeeper and tiger breeder “Joe Exotic.” This show has a large range of interesting characters such as Carole Baskin or Joe Exotic, that could be used for interesting, and comedic costumes.
Other than dressing up as a character from your favorite TV show or movie, there are plenty of classic options that can be selected for a spectacular costume.
Whether you are doing a group costume or an individual costume, a hugely popular trend for this year is the fairy costume.
There are a multitude of possible variations for the costume. You can purchase a corset and wear a tutu or even put some fairy wings on the back of a casual dress or even pants and a t-shirt.
Another classic costume idea is a zombie. It is easy to get creative with face paint from your local Party City or Target, and you could even throw some fake blood on some old and tattered clothing for a spooky effect.
Junior Grace Griffin is opting into the classic costume idea. She said, “I’m being either a butterfly or a mummy.”
To gather items for her costume she said, “I’d get things off of Amazon, like a skirt, a top, maybe some accessories.”
Even if classic costumes, or television-inspired costumes don’t peak your attention, another interesting costume idea is dressing up as one of your favorite musicians.
Pop singers such as Ariana Grande make for a fun and creative costume. Put your hair in a classic ponytail, throw on some heels, and a classic dress, and you’re basically Ariana herself.
Another interesting pop singer is Lil Nas X. With his eccentric VMA’s purple outfit and golden Met Gala costume(s), there are no shortage of creative looks that can be recreated.
Finally, some students at JC are opting for creative, out-of-the-box costumes.
Sophomore Andrew Kelly said that he has decided to dress up as a Pringles can.
With this year’s Halloween being the first semi-normal Halloween since the COVID-19 pandemic, it is especially important to come up with a costume that makes jaws drop.
