School community anticipates JC Spring Bazaar
March 24, 2022
The John Carroll Spring Bazaar is planned for April 23. It will begin at 10:00 am, with a rain date of April 24.
This event hosts local artisans and crafters, as well as worldwide brands. John Carroll’s school store will also have an area with JC merchandise. Additionally, John Carroll will be providing a DJ and food trucks to celebrate.
The Spring Bazaar is a perfect opportunity to get gifts for your loved ones or for yourself.
Bazaar Coordinator Mia Healy said,“The event will be a great kickoff to Spring bringing together local small businesses, families, and future Patriots.”
In regard to the importance of the Spring Bazaar, Ms. Healy said, “JC prepares students to make an impact on their communities and the bazaar offers students the opportunity to volunteer and directly engage with their community. The bazaar is a symbol of outreach to our Bel Air community, bringing JC students, parents, and alumni together with the community at large to celebrate the coming of Spring.”
“It also benefits our local crafters and artisans, as well as national brands. This year, especially, it will be a true celebration of community; bringing us together in a way we have not been able to do for two years due to the pandemic,” she added. Although it doesn’t seem like there would be a tradition behind the bazaars, there is. Director of Marketing Kathy Walsh explained that there have been bazaars at JC for a very long time in a variety of different formats.
Mrs. Walsh said, “The Christmas Bazaar has been occurring longer. The Spring Bazaar is a relatively new addition to take advantage of the popularity of craft shows and to align with Mother’s Day flowers and gifts.”
From a coordinator’s standpoint, Ms. Healy remarked, “Planning for an event like this involves many steps including location decisions, marketing for vendors, and securing food and entertainment.”
She said it “has been a wonderful opportunity to get to know my JC community through the Parent Association as well as speaking to members of the small business community.”
