Ralphie is back with releases of second ‘Christmas Story’

A Christmas Story is a classic holiday movie. It tells the tale of Ralphie and his brother celebrating the quote-on-quote “perfect Christmas.”

In this sequel, Ralphie is back at it again. In this movie, Ralph is all grown up, with a wife and two kids. He lives in Chicago and is a struggling writer, trying to provide his children with a Christmas they’ll never forget.

However, all of that changes when Ralph gets an unexpected phone call from his mother. She tells him the news nobody wants to hear–his father has passed away. Ralph returns to his house on Cleveland Street with his family to assist his mother.

Back at his childhood home, Ralph is tasked with lots of responsibilities. He has to write his father’s obituary and deal with publishing companies about his new book, all while trying to make Christmas magical for his children.

Things quickly go wrong for Ralph and his family, though. Minor mishaps take place; bullies return; bones are broken; some criminality happens, and grief prevails over the family.
However, with the help of old childhood friends and unlikely new friendships, Ralph is back on track to give the greatest Christmas ever.

A Christmas Story Christmas has more of a softer center than the first movie, but it is still a great family film.

This movie can be streamed on HBO MAX and is rated PG.

Personally, I really enjoyed the movie. The charm of nostalgia is certainly part of this movie such as when Ralph returns to Higbee’s.

The set-up is all the same and even some of the lines Ralph and Randy use while waiting in line to see Santa are spoken by Ralph’s children.

It was also very cool to see some of the old cast return as adults. The actors who played Ralph, Randy (Ralph’s brother), Mrs. Parker, Flick, Schwartz, and Scut Farkus are all featured in this movie.

It definitely provides that sense of nostalgia as I’ve watched A Christmas Story every year.

Seeing Ralph as a grown-up in his childhood home with his family was a very interesting approach.

This movie is undoubtedly worth watching.
