Ocean City is known by many local residents as one of the best places to visit in Maryland. Within the 10-mile town, there are plenty of activities to keep visitors busy during their time there.
Some of the major attractions in Ocean City are the Jolly Roger amusements and the three-mile boardwalk that parallels the beach. If you’re looking for some less crowded attractions, there are some options.
Ocean City water boat rentals are a great choice since the town is known for its boating and water fun. Another thing people may do for the day is to rent a boat or jet ski and cruise through Assawoman Bay on the back side of Ocean City. Ocean City also has many parasailing spots where visitors can go up to 800 feet in the air and get amazing views of the peninsula.
An alternate to water sports is to take a trip to Assateague Island. This island is a public beach with wild horses scattered all over it. These horses might even try to take snacks. Assateague Island and Ocean City, once connected, were split by a storm that came through, separating the two forming the inlet.
Even though Ocean City is a beach town, rainy days can still be fun. The restaurant Alley Oops has become a very popular destination for tourists on rainy days. This restaurant includes bowling lanes and a large arcade with a huge selection of prizes. For food, they have items like burgers and grilled cheese.
There are over 15 different mini-golf selections throughout Ocean City. Mini-golf has become a popular activity to do outside on a hot summer day. Tourists can also do one of the indoor mini-golf courses to take a break from the heat or on a rainy day.
Ocean City has a lot to offer and is always a great time, but just going to the beach is fun as well. There is also a surf section on the beach designated for surfers only, and if someone is not into surfing, building a sand castle or boogie boarding in the waves is another option.
