‘Starfield’ was released on September 6 but was available earlier for people who pre-ordered the Premium Edition.
The story of Starfield takes place in a new Sci-Fi universe created by Bethesda. The gamer plays a character known as “The Spacefarer” whose background, traits, appearance, and personality depend on their decisions while playing the game.
The game’s main premise is that humanity has left the Earth behind after the magnetosphere has collapsed, causing them to venture into the stars. Then hundreds of years would pass as humanity had finally colonized the stars; this is where the player comes into place. The star farer uncovers an alien artifact that gives strange visions to them. This event causes them to cross paths with the Constellation, the last group of space explorers in the known universe. They wish to uncover the greatest mystery in the universe which is finding out the origin of the artifacts. There are many other great storylines in the game as well, not just the main story, but I don’t want to spoil the experience.
The main game play of Starfield consists of the typical RPG experience; there is combat, exploration, and dialogue choices that help shape the created character. There is also a brand-new emphasis on the exploration side of Bethesda RPGs, allowing the gamer to explore brand-new planets. These planets have their own open-world environments and quest lines, giving the player new freedom. There are different kinds of weapons that fit the setting of this universe. Instead of medieval weapons or normal firearms, as seen in Skyrim and Fallout, the weapons have a futuristic look to them.
Overall, the game is not as revolutionary as previous Bethesda titles such as Skyrim. However, it is worth at least a play-through if you love games in space or love any type of game that immerses you into the world.
