Disney’s new ‘Haunted Mansion,’ directed by Justin Simien, can be found strictly on Disney+.

It is a frightening thriller that takes on the adventure of a mother and her son buying a cheap mansion, but little do they know what is about to unfold inside.

Haunted Mansion, rated PG-13 for horror, family, comedy, fantasy, and action-adventure, contains scenes of flashing lights that may affect photosensitive viewers.  However, the scenes of flashing lights add intensity and ominous feelings to the horror.

This movie also contains scenes of jump scares that add to the mystery, and though they may give viewers a fright, it will keep them wanting to discover more about the haunted house.

The movie relates to the Haunted Mansion attraction in Walt Disney World with its many twists, turns, and jump scares that can also be found on the ride.

Mother Rosario Dawson and her son Travis find a huge new house to live in but quickly discover it is not all as luxurious as it seems, and there are spirits present.  They are so scared of seeing supernatural things taking place that they seek help from a priest, psychic, professor, and a paranormal expert.

Haunted Mansion is a phenomenal movie with everything from unexpected twists, laughter, and mystery. The movie provides an overall delightfully scary atmosphere.  Even the characters’ costumes are spectacular and add an eerie feeling to the plot with details and intricate designs.

Each actor and actress give an excellent performance and does a stellar job showcasing the mystery and horror taking place through their facial expressions and through their deliverance of lines.  It is very believable that paranormal and unreal things are happening in this movie because of the actors’ dedication to give their best performances.

The one thing this movie is lacking in is good lighting.  At times, it is a little hard to see an actor’s facial expressions and what is actually going on in general, so viewers would have to be in a dark room to get the full effect of this movie.  The dark lighting does add a suspenseful touch to the plot, but it would be even better if the screen was a tad brighter.

Overall, this movie is a great way to get into the Halloween spirit, so grab a blanket and cuddle up with family and friends to watch a movie that will leave all who see it on the edge of their seats. Viewers are in for a spooky treat.
