This year, John Carroll’s music department hosted their first-ever fall concert. The concert was held on Thursday, October 19, starting at 6:30 p.m. with free admission.
Director of Performing Arts Julie Parrish explained that with the new format of Discovering JC, there was not an opportunity for Bella Voce, Patriettes, jazz band, chorus, orchestra and band to showcase their music.
Because of this, it sparked the idea to have a fall concert.
The music department is not working on Christmas music for the time being, so they had been working to prepare since the beginning of the school year.
Regarding the preparation process for the concert, Mrs. Parrish described it as “our day-to-day class. We use class time for rehearsals and for the vocal side of things we pick our music; sometimes we learn it together and sometimes I will make rehearsal tracks where they have to learn it on their own.”
Mrs. Parrish also gave an insight into some of the pieces that were performed. The different areas of performance worked separately to prepare and for different amounts of time.
Bella Voce performed “Lean on Me,” “Moon River,” “Save the World / Don’t You Worry Child,” and more.
On the other hand, Patriettes performed two pieces from Pitch Perfect, Taylor Swift’s “Love Story’ and a piece called “Apple Tree” which Mrs. Parrish described as her favorite and one she is most excited about.
