If you need a new favorite Christmas movie, ‘Elf’ will bring you all kinds of holiday cheer this winter season.
With Will Ferrell as Buddy, the main character, this holiday film is one of the funniest of its kind.
The movie begins at an orphanage, where a baby crawls into Santa’s bag of toys on Christmas Eve. When Santa arrives back at the North Pole, the rest of the elves decide to take him in and raise him as one of their own.
Unable to shake the feeling that he does not belong, Buddy grows up to wonder who his real parents are. Adult Buddy then makes his way to New York City right before Christmas to find his father.
The Elf movie is an entertaining film combining comedy and holiday spirit. When I first saw Elf, it was unlike anything I had seen in a Christmas film.
Instead of revolving around standard Christmas traditions, producers created a movie about modern day traditions. Buddy enters New York in elf clothing, starting the journey to find his father and save Christmas. Although his mission is not a simple one, it sure is a hilarious one.
Will Ferrell, one of the most well-known comedy actors, goes all-out for this holiday classic. Ferrell’s enthusiasm and energy make him so perfect for this role. He fufills the role requirement of engaging audiences while remaining age appropriate. With much experience in comedy movies, Ferrell brings his expertise to the Elf movie in every aspect.
In addition to Ferrell, James Caan is Walter Hobbs, Buddy’s human father. Caan is one of the most notable actors in the entertainment industry. and delivers Hobb’s stern businessman personality exceptionally well.
Ferrell’s and Caan’s opposing personalities are what keep this Christmas movie entertaining 20 years after its initial release.
With an exciting, family-friendly plot and incredible acting, Elf is worth watching this holiday season. It is safe to say that this movie tops the Nice List.
