When skimming through movies on a snowy night, I know what I’m choosing. If it were up to me, I would watch this movie every day in December before Christmas. One of the best festive movies is ‘Home Alone’ directed by Chris Columbus and starring Macaulay Culkin as Kevin.
The movie begins with Kevin, a snotty eight-year-old kid who is determined to ruin his family’s vacation.
Once accidentally forgotten and left at home from his family’s trip to Paris, he is all alone for the holidays. He’s left defending himself against robbers who are intent on stealing from all the rich houses on the block whose families have left for the holidays.
The acting in the movie is superb with great execution and clever wit in every joke.
The actor who plays Kevin is phenomenal, as his character both displays heart and kindness, but he also shows an ornery side. It is no shock the success the movie continues to have after years of being out of theaters.
Home Alone manages to keep the vibrant Christmas theme along with adding a nostalgic and heartwarming touch. Kevin staying by himself for the holidays adds a melancholy addition to the movie that makes the viewer feel sorry for the bratty kid who wishes that his parents to go away.
Although he enjoys the silence and time alone at first, it doesn’t take long for him to wish his family was spending this time with him. Even though it sounds like a sad movie, it is considered a comedy — and for good reason.
The traps Kevin sets up to stop the robbers never fail to make the viewer laugh. The whole movie is filled with twists, turns, light suspense, and thrills that keep viewers wondering what the movie’s result will be.
Above all of this, it is a very classic and fun Christmas movie to sit back and enjoy. It’s best enjoyed with hot chocolate and the festive Christmas spirit.
The focus of the movie is the importance of a family’s support and love. Without the determination and support of Kevin’s mother to get home to him in time for Christmas, he would have been alone for the holidays. It also shows how her motherly instinct takes over as she is desperately trying to get home to her son.
Home Alone can be watched on Prime Video and Disney+.
This movie has great jokes and punchlines, and sentimental moments. It is a must-watch for the holiday season, and a great way to spend some time with friends and family.
