As Christmas Day approaches each year, everyone may have a favorite Christmas movie that they watch with their family.
The best and most popular Christmas movie is Home Alone. There are so many reasons why Home Alone is a classic. It is creative, unique, witty, and heart-warming in some parts.
The story takes place in a nice neighborhood in Chicago where the McCallister family lives. The conflict of the story is abruptly introduced as, while on the plane to their Christmas vacation, Mrs. McCallister realizes she has forgotten her son, Kevin.
Several miles away, in Paris, France, the family begins to panic, thinking of what could be happening to Kevin.
Prior to leaving, Kevin had gotten into a huge fight with his mother and had said, “I wish my family would disappear.”
The next morning when he wakes up, he realizes his dream has come true. The ups and downs of the plot reveal that being eight-years-old and staying alone is not ideal at all.
In the beginning, he acts tough, but later we see that he has his fears. Another aspect of the story is the two robbers who try to break into the McCallister household while the family is away.
This leaves it up to Kevin; can he save his family’s home despite being eight-years-old and completely alone?
There are so many famous, witty lines and memorable characters. There is a wild, roller-coaster of a plot.
My favorite thing about the movie is probably how well done the connection between Christmas and comedy is made.
While many holiday movies involve comedy, this one has a perfect, impressive balance between the two.
With a memorable cast, beautiful settings, and hilarious remarks, Home Alone should be a classic on everyone’s movie shelf.
If you are one who loves cozying up on the couch with hot chocolate and a blanket this season, Home Alone will be sure to make you smile.
