Many people know of the fro-yo place named Menchies; it is a popular frozen yogurt chain that has a variety of flavors and tons of toppings to choose from.

People in the John Carroll community may or may not know that JC Teacher Larry Dukes owns the new local Menchies in Bel Air.

He has run this family-owned business with his brother-in-law, John, his sister, Elaine, and his wife, Kathy. They first started by opening a Menchies up in Abingdon 10 years ago. After ten years, they decided to open a location in Bel Air.

Bel Air gives them a greater potential for success. Bel Air is the county’s business center and a destination point for people; it is the perfect place to attract large numbers of customers.
After three months of hard work, Menchies in Bel Air opened in October 2023.

Mr. Dukes said, “The only two fro-yo-centric businesses in Harford County are now across the street from each other. The market is big enough to sustain both.”

They may open more in the future if the growth of this store is successful. Mr. Dukes and his family’s main goal for Menchies is for them to provide the best fro-yo treat to the market.
