A popular Christmas attraction is visiting New York City and attending the Rockettes’ show.
The Rockettes are a well-known dance group known for their high kick performances. They are a very popular attraction in New York during the holiday season.
The Rockettes have been performing since their first show in 1932. They have performed at many different occasions throughout the years from ceremonies to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade.
The Rockettes originated in 1925. Russell Marker who was a choreographer, was looking for a way to showcase his dance troupe in New York City. He then created his precise dance routine with a mix of high kicks and synchronized movements, which then became known as the “Rockett style.”
The Rockettes made their first appearance on December 27, 1932. They got the name “Rockettes” from the high-flying images of airplanes and rocket ships that were popular at the time. All the Rockettes are very similar in size, shape and looks.
There are many requirements to join the Rockettes. Applicants must be 18 years old and between 5’6 and 5’10 in height. They must have a lot of flexibility to join as well.
The Rockettes have to also dedicate a lot of time for preparation and practice. Rockettes practice several hours a day in a six-day span. They practice from early September through early January. In addition, they also attend rehearsals and auditions throughout the entire year to prepare for new production and performances.
The first performance this year to attend was November 17, and the last show will be on January 1.
The tickets range from $69 to $230. The show is approximately 90 minutes long.
I highly recommend attending the Rockettes show this holiday as it surprises many people how talented these each girls are.
