These movies came to theaters during the week of Nov. 21, 2010:
“Burlesque”
Genre: Drama
Rating: PG 13
A small-town girl arrives in L.A. and lands a job in an ailing burlesque lounge. Ali is a small girl (Christina Aguilera) with a huge voice. She begins her adventure as a waitress, but soon becomes the star of the theater. The club’s owner (Cher) gives her a chance, and before you know it, she’s made it big time. Incorporate romance with the club’s bartender, and this is sure to be quite a movie.
Our Recommendation: See it
“Faster”
Genre: Action, Thriller
Rating: R
Dwayne Johnson plays the role of Driver. Driver is a man who has served 10 years in prison and, after his release, vows to avenge the death of his brother after a bank robbery goes bad. However, his vengeful plan may not ever be carried out because a cop (Billy Bob Thornton) and a hit man (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) are following him. In my book, this is another one of those high-speed chase movies, with the potential of being decent.
Our Recommendation: Rent it
“Love and Other Drugs”
Genre: Drama
Rating: R
Anne Hathaway plays the role of a free-spirited girl who falls in love with the charming Jake Gyllenhaal. The relationship takes them both by surprise, and they find themselves consumed by the love drug.
