The newly released “The Town” is easily the best action movie of 2010, telling the gripping story of a group of bank robbers in Charlestown, Boston.
It’s not just another dull movie about crime. There is a captivating story behind the main character, making these criminals seem vulnerable and human.
Ben Affleck did an outstanding job in both starring in and directing this film. Affleck wastes no time to develop the plot. The opening scene is full of action and suspense, setting the mood for the rest of the film.
Affleck also does a seamless job incorporating a romance story into this gripping action film. The romance story is a great transition between action scenes, allowing the plot flow smoothly.
In addition to a great beginning, the end of the movie is equally spectacular and completely unexpected. There is no “happily ever after” in “The Town.” The audience is left in suspense, which I prefer over the typical boring, predictable endings.
Another actor worthy of mention is John Hamm. He plays the FBI agent who is always just one step behind the criminals until the end where he finally catches up. He adds most of the suspense to the plot and is defiantly a character who you want to pay attention to.
“The Town” is rated R and is definitely not appropriate for children. There is extremely strong language used throughout the entire movie. Some may find the kind of language used so often in “The Town” tasteless, but it always seems to fit the mood of the movie.
I honestly cannot find a single negative thing to say about this film, which was definitely one of the best movies of 2010 with a release date of December 17. From beginning to end, “The Town” is a captivating story filled with suspense. Anyone who is a fan of action and suspense would absolutely love this movie.
