One would think a girl who likes to wear natural colors and neutral tones would blend in and go unnoticed, but senior Amanda Zivkovic’s style is far from boring, catching the eye for its youthful uniqueness.
Inspired by the nature around her, Zivkovic defines her style as “casual, but adventurous.” With a closet full of gray, white, and black items, Zivkovic is not afraid to make a bold yet sharp statement.
“My style is always changing, not drastically, but something is always new,” she said.
Zivkovic’s favorite look incorporates skinny safari green cargo pants, a simple black tank top, a slim leather jacket, and brown boots.
“I like it because it’s fast. It’s not old lady clothing, but it’s not provocative either. It’s urban, but I make it more natural,” Zivkovic said.
Zivkovic finds most of her clothing on NastyGal.com, an online store that sells new and vintage clothing. She also frequently visits Urban Outfitters and American Apparel to find a great buy, and she shops stores like Target to find her basics that go along with almost anything.
In her free time, Zivkovic likes to take photographs and write. “I don’t dress like a typical, artsy-fartsy poet,” Zivkovic said.
According to Zivkovic, photography helps her look at things from new angles, especially how she dresses. “Photography helps you see aesthetic beauty in certain ways,” she said.
Zivkovic doesn’t see herself having a future career in fashion, though. “Maybe at one point in time I did, but it’s not for me. I don’t think that fashion should completely define who you are. I couldn’t make a career out of it.”
For now, Zivkovic is focusing on maturing her style as she transitions into college. “Wear what you feel most confident in and what you like. Confidence is rarer than the most gorgeous shirt you have ever seen in your life,” Zivkovic said.
