The Patriot rates the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards on the best and worst fashions on the red carpet.
Top 3 Worst
- Nicki Minaj: What was worse, Minaj’s skunk-colored afro hair or her full-on leopard print bodysuit? Minaj typically wears vibrant neon colors so this blah black and brown outfit was very disappointing.
- Rihanna: In Jean-Paul Gaultier Couture, Rihanna bared all and managed to make a bold statement by practically wearing nothing. Rihanna looked like she had one super-long pipe cleaner wrapped around her body.
- Katy Perry: Pretending to be an angel, Perry posed on the red carpet with white- feathered wings. With the release of her 2010 album “Teenage Dream,” Perry went a little too far by trying to bring her fantasy world to the Grammy’s.
Top 3 Best
- Jennifer Hudson: Hudson made the Grammy’s proud. Having last a lot of weight, Hudson almost looked unrecognizable. In a navy blue Versace mullet-style gown, Hudson looked absolutely stunning and had a healthy glow to her face. The sparkly silver straps and straight center-part hair created a simple yet elegant look compared to some of the other over-the-top guests.
- Selena Gomez: As always, Gomez didn’t disappoint on the red carpet. Wearing a J. Mendel neutral metallic gown, Gomez looked appropriate for her age. The only critique was the color. She looked gorgeous, but the neutral hue washed her out and blended too much with her skin color. It would have been better if the dress was a deep jewel tone.
- Florence Welch: Another swan was spotted at the Grammy’s, and it wasn’t Natalie Portman. Florence from Florence + The Machine managed to exemplify her vintage style by wearing a Givenchy Couture dress that had two arching swans embroidered on the front. Florence stayed true to herself by wearing something that highlighted her unique indie music.
