Unlike most students who will be enjoying their summer elsewhere, on July 28 senior Stephanie Chervenkov will be competing to win Miss Teen USA 2012 .Since Chervenkov recently won Miss Maryland Teen USA 2012, she is moving on to compete to win Miss Teen USA 2012. Held in the Bahamas, 50 contestants, including Chervenkov, will come together to compete to win the title of Miss Teen USA 2012.
“I felt like I was in a dream, a very good one… The moment I heard my name called as the winner was the best moment of my life,” Chervenkov said.
Chervenkov will complete her job as Miss Maryland Teen during one year of her reign. The crown is then passed along to her successor in the following year’s pageant in search for Miss Maryland Teen 2013.
“Something huge I’ve done is facing my fear of public speaking and now I’m a lot more comfortable being around a big crowd of people.” Chervenkov said.
As a title holder, it is their duty to serve their community and be a role model while representing their appointed state. Many other opportunities are offered to the title holder. Chervenkov had the opportunity to participate in a Fox 45 Interview, Baltimore St. Patrick’s Day Parade, MG Models Event, and the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center Event to name a few.
“Through my reign so far, I’ve had many interesting experiences because of several wonderful appearances I’ve been a part of…The most interesting experience is when I was recognized by the State House of Representatives for winning Miss Maryland Teen USA and going onto Miss Teen USA which will be held on July 28. It was such an honor to be part of a great event like this.” Chervenkov said.
“This was my second pageant I’ve ever competed in. I competed in Miss Maryland Teen USA 2011 and I got top 15. I had a blast during pageant weekend so I decided to compete the following year. I was determined to do my best and I ended up winning.” Chervenkov said.
“To me, a pageant is much more than just a show or event. It’s about personal development, confidence, communication skills, and just about every girl experiences these with or without the crown. I honestly believe pageantry allows girls to follow their dreams.” Chervenkov said.
Along with the experience of being Miss Maryland Teen, Stephanie plans to attend Notre Dame of Maryland University.
