This year John Carroll has welcomed many new faces to the school, including students, faculty, and staff members. Some of these new staff members are JC alumni who have returned to the school.
Some of these alumni include Mr. Camren Exter, Ms. Katie Smith, and Ms. Stephanie Imbierowicz. All three of these teachers did not have anything negative to say about being back at their alma mater. They said how great it is to be back even if they’re the ones standing in front of the class teaching, instead of sitting at one of the desks learning.
Mr. Exter said that “note taking was one of the best things that I got out of my classes here.”
He talked about how he still uses how he was taught to take notes now, and it really made a difference when he was going through school.
Ms. Smith has returned to John Carroll as she has joined the religion department as a new teacher. One of the things that Ms. Smith has kept with her since her JC years is her writing skills.
She said, “Writing is something that has stuck with me through college and even now with how I teach.”
When she was a student at JC, her writing changed so much and because of the skills she learned in her time here, it has made a difference in not only her learning but now carrying it on and teaching it to new generations of students.
Ms. Imbierowicz is back at JC teaching ceramics.
“When I came back, all these memories started flowing back through my head, and as far as nostalgia, there was so much I forgotten that has been coming back to me.”
As some leave high school, they may forget some things that happened to them in their time there. Being back, they can get a reminder of how good or bad that time in their life was.
