This time of year can be very busy for many seniors as they prepare and submit their college applications.
As the seniors prepare for the future and get ready to see where they will be spending their next four years, this time can be full of stress and worry for seniors at John Carroll.
College applications take lots of time for the seniors as they make sure their applications are perfect so that they have a better chance of getting into their preferred colleges.
Many of their application deadlines come up early in the fall.
Seniors spend a lot of time on applications because they must ask for letters of recommendation, fill out information, and write essays to show who they are. Often seniors do this multiple times for multiple applications.
Senior Paige MacKenney said, “I’ve applied to 15 colleges. I feel very excited to find out whether I got in or not. It gives me a sense of thrill to wait to find out if I get accepted into the colleges of my dreams. I also feel like this is going to be a good chance to see if get in.”
This time causes a lot of stress for many seniors as they work on multiple college applications while dealing with the homework and class work they have to get done.
Some seniors even put off their college applications until the last minute in order to stay on top of school and sports.
Senior Naimah Saccoh said, “Knowing where to start and getting started makes this process very challenging. I procrastinated a lot. It took a lot of motivation to write them, but I am very relieved that I finished them. I have come to the point where I am waiting for their answers, and I feel very nervous about whether I will be able to get in or not.”
This can be a very hard time for many because seniors can find out when or if they are going to get into college at any time.
Dealing with this stress and the worry of school and high school and club sports can take up most of a senior’s worry.
The stress has added to an excitement many experience as they wonder what colleges they will end up getting into.
