The end of Semester One for John Carroll students was January 22. As a school, there is so much to reflect on from the last five months. Now, students get to look forward to the next four months which may be a slight adjustment.
The beginning of Semester Two includes a new schedule. At JC, this may result in new classes, sometimes with new teachers. Having a new teacher may mean more challenging courses for students.
While it can be difficult to adjust to a harder course, the school offers lots of resources to help those in need of extra help. For example, a counselor could help to direct a student struggling with an academic class for help. Students may also ask teachers to meet with them after school or in off-mods.
The end of Semester One could also be an adjustment to just get around the building. Some new classes may be in unfamiliar areas of the building.
Some students feel the same way in terms of the schedule change.
Sophomore Caroline Milan said, “Classes have changed, causing some to become more challenging for me. I also have had to get comfortable with different teachers, as well as their new expectations in the classroom.”
While academics is a large part of the adjustment, so are extracurricular activities.
Caroline added, “A new semester means preparing for new sports. Sports like softball, baseball, and lacrosse may have new training opportunities, so students can warm up before the spring. Overall, Semester One has been amazing this year, but there are surely some adjustments in Semester Two. No doubt it may be hard at first, but John Carroll students thrive at all times.”
