There have been races down the Target aisles. Target has not been giving away free TVs, but they have released two new Valentine’s Day Stanley Cup colors. This Galentine’s Collection includes the Cosmo Pink and Target Red tumblers.
These cups have caused fights to break out in lines waiting for the store to open. People have camped out in the parking lot to be the first ones in.
Target has limited it to two Stanley Cups per person. Even with this rule, people have filled their carts with the cups to sell online and keep for themselves.
Some of the Target employees have complained online that there have been customers harassing them to get their hands on at least one of the tumblers.
They have said that people have tried to sneak into the back rooms to grab one.
Junior Alycia Roussell said, “I would never camp out to get an overpriced cup. I have a Stanley, and, yes, it is nice, but it’s not worth freezing outside waiting for the store to open.”
Stanley has been making tumblers for over 100 years; however, during this past year, the company has blown up. They now release Limited Edition cups and collaborate with Starbucks, Lainey Wilson, and Target.
Social media has played a crucial role in the trend of these cups. There have been many TikToks about the new collection and how people go wild over them. Many TikTokers have also posted their collection of Stanley Cups and how they need the help to add to the 20+ cups they have.
“It is sad that people are acting crazy over a cup that they have in multiple different colors. It just seems like a waste of money to me,” said junior Tori Heid.
The Cosmo Pink 40-ounce tumbler is going for $50-70, and the Target Red is going for $70-100 on Ebay.
Junior Portia Palitti said, “I really love the Cosmo Pink Stanley, and once it is not out of stock, I’m going to get one for myself.”
