The most exciting time of the year is when the winter season ends, and the warm, beautiful spring season arrives. The spring season is now here and flowers are starting to bloom as the weather becomes warmer and nicer.
There are a wide variety of flowers that begin to bloom as the spring season begins. Flowers like daffodils, Siberian Squill, tulips, and crocuses are examples.
Tulips are a super popular flower. Their beautiful vibrant colors can catch the eyes of anyone who looks in a garden. The colors vary in orange, pink, purple, and yellow. Tulips are usually planted early, and they start to sprout early in the spring, almost during times when snow is still possible.
Daffodils are another common flower that grow in the spring. Colors that are the most common for daffodils are yellow and orange, but there are also some rare colors like pink and white. Usually it’s hard to plant daffodils in the spring, so people must plan to plant them in the fall before the ground freezes.
The Siberian Squill has colors of blue and purple. Other flowers usually need warmer weather to grow, but the Siberian Squill is a plant that can grow in cold weather and through frost on the ground, which makes it a rare flower. These flowers are known to grow super far North, and close to the Artic Circle.
Crocuses are not as well-known as flowers, but people can recognize one from being a flower that is part of a bulb group. This flower comes in colors such as purple, pink, red, orange, blue, and yellow. These are another flower that should be planted in the fall for them to be able to grow in early spring.
Flowers can be used also as a significant gift, especially around Easter time.
Sophomore Emma Kaminski explained, “I give my mom, my aunt and my grandmother flowers and other plants around Easter time and throughout the whole season of spring.”
Although the sprouting of flowers can be exciting, it also can sprout allergies.
Sophomore Reagan Kolego said, “I really enjoy the spring time; it’s such a beautiful time because of all the flowers and the trees. I really dislike all the allergies that come with it. I can’t stand all the symptoms I get, and it drives me insane. It takes away from how pretty spring is, and I can’t enjoy being outside as much. But through medicine I try my best. Even through all my allergies and issues with spring, it is still my favorite season.”
As spring moves into its first full month, try and keep an eye out for the beautiful, and colorful flowers that are beginning to grow.
