As one of the friendly faces at John Carroll, Spanish Teacher Hannah Roy is become an important figure in the JC community.
As a JC alumna from the Class of 2013, Mrs. Roy pursued a higher education at Salisbury University, majoring in Spanish with a minor in Latin American studies.
She returned to the JC community in the 2019-2020 school year. As a passionate Spanish teacher, she has taught the world language students across four levels.
Beyond the classroom, Mrs. Roy has been coaching badminton for four years. In 2022, she took on the role of Summer Camp Coordinator, bringing fun and educational programs to JC during the school break.
This year, she is also involved in Patriot Pathways, working closely with Assistant Principal Jake Hollin. Mrs. Roy said, “Patriot Pathways develops necessary skills, career planning, and college prep through a variety of activities. We strive to provide as many resources as possible to prepare students for after high school.”
Mrs. Roy has begun to oversee the Patriot Projects as well. The Patriot Project reflects JC’s commitment to individual student growth.
By their senior year, students are ready to present their work to a board of evaluators, integrating the John Carroll Mission Statement into their projects, showcasing their understanding and application of the school’s core values.
Mrs. Roy coordinates with the students to ensure projects are prepared for presentation.
Mrs. Roy is also co-moderator of JC’s One Love Club with Physical Education Teacher Tricia Giuffrida. The One Love Club is all about promoting healthy relationships and spreading awareness about the importance of love and respect in all types of relationships.
In addition to her work at JC, Mrs. Roy’s welcoming presence and cheerful attitude will brighten people’s day with just a simple wave.
Students adore her and always make sure to greet her with a big smile and a friendly “Hola.”
Mrs. Roy’s kindness and approachability create an overall positive environment.
