To everyone’s dismay, summer is over. It’s time to put away the sun screen, Bermuda shorts, and gladiator sandals, and start looking for this fall’s fashion trends.
This 2010 season, the fashion world is suggesting a little something for everyone. The styles range from sporty and preppy to bohemian and punk, and bring back retro looks. The guidebook below suggests a few trends that are bound to suit everyone’s needs while keeping up-to-date with the latest styles.
The Navajo
Embrace the Native American culture this fall and buy a pair of fringed moccasins. Forget about the past trend of Uggs, and try Minnetonkas, a company that has been designing and manufacturing moccasins for over a half of a century. Pair your moccasins with warm colors, tiny beads, and feathers for a complete cultural transformation.
Urban Cadet
March into the season with a pair of combat boots. Look for brands such as Dr. Martens or Steve Madden to find boots that are feminine, but edgy. Army green skinny cargo pants and navy blue striped tees will also fill stores. Simple cross-shoulder bags will be all the rage because they are hands-free and easily accessible. Stores like Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie are great places to find military accents.
Glam Grunge
This rock n’ roll, tough, and edgy style is not for everyone and is difficult to pull off. But if anyone is bold and wants to make a statement, go for it. Glam Grunge pulls together a combination of leather, faux fur, animal prints, and patterned tights. It’s everything that Ke$ha would wear.
Sweet Chic
Elegant, delicate, and cute, this style provides a variation to the preppy and conservative look. With royal jewel tones, pearls, and a splash of sequins, Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl encompasses this classic look. Try a pleated skirt, a cropped blazer and oxford shoes with brands like J.Crew and Ralph Lauren which sell clothing and accessories that embody this sophisticated look.
Eclectic
Try something old and something new together. Match modern and vintage pieces together. Check out a local Goodwill or consignment shop to find a large array of clothing from different decades. A piece from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, or 80’s will create a look that is affordable, trendy, and best of all, unique.
